China Crisis
China Crisis is a British new wave/synth-pop band formed in Liverpool in 1979. The band’s core members are Gary Daly (vocals/keyboards) and Eddie Lundon (guitar/vocals). They gained popularity in the 1980s with their distinctive sound, characterized by melodic pop hooks, atmospheric synthesizers, and thoughtful lyrics.
China Crisis achieved commercial success with several hit singles in the UK, including “Wishful Thinking,” “Black Man Ray,” and “King in a Catholic Style (Wake Up).” Their albums, such as “Difficult Shapes & Passive Rhythms, Some People Think It’s Fun to Entertain” (1982) and “Flaunt the Imperfection” (1985), received critical acclaim and solidified their reputation as innovators in the synth-pop genre.
While they may not have achieved the same level of mainstream success as some of their contemporaries, China Crisis has maintained a dedicated fan base and continued to release albums and perform live concerts over the years. Their music is remembered for its melodic sophistication and emotional depth, making them an enduring presence in the new wave music scene.
